New Adventure: iOS and Android App Development

iOS and Android App Development
It should be really interesting learning to develop for both the iOS devices and the Android. Wish me luck!

It is time for a new adventure in my life. Well it might not seem too exciting for most people, but it is actually something that has interested me for a long while. I’m going to start doing some iOS and Android App Development. I have a programming background, but I haven’t really used it in my professional career.

A few  years back I got my first taste of iPhone app development. There was a game called bags or cornhole that my friends and I loved to play. So I looked to see if there was an app for it on iTunes and there wasn’t. So I set out to develop the game. I actually finished the code and even had a working prototype of the game on my iPhone at the time. The game didn’t have any graphics to finish it out and give it a polished feel. I unfortunately am not talented enough nor have the patience to create quality graphics. So as I waited to have someone do the graphics, the game never came to completion.

I regret never following through with the game. Although I don’t think I would have made any money from it, I at least would have had the experience of programming a game and having it available for my friends to download and play the game with me. Seeing my friends trying not to let their iPhones slip out of their hands while they simulated tossing the virtual bean bag would have made it completely worth it.

Recently a friend came up with a game idea that sounded interesting. After talking about it awhile we decided to push forward and develop his idea into an iOS and Android game. So I find myself really excited to dive in and rediscover my programming roots.

Even if the game doesn’t take off I feel that I want to do more with programming. So I figure I’ll try to come up with as many ideas as I can and see if I can’t make a bunch of games and apps. What else do I have to do in my spare time anyways?

I was originally born in Missouri, but traveled around most of my childhood. My mom finally got tired of moving while we were in Dallas, Texas and I have been here ever since. After high school I started college at the University of North Texas (UNT) and started working in the computer field. I currently work for JCPenney as a front end software engineer for their e-commerce website. Before this I worked for AT&T about 12 years and started with them in 1999 (when they were Southwestern Bell). I have many passions and I really love photography. Besides photography I also love sports. I not only like to watch it, but I also love to play. Currently my friends and I play indoor soccer and flag football.
