Why I’m Fixing the “Broken” Airbnb TV Experience (And How You Can Help)

StayHost Hub Logo

Every short-term rental host knows the “TV Text.” It usually comes at 9:00 PM: “How do I get the Netflix to work?” or “The last guest is still logged into Disney+.” I launched StayHost Hub because I realized that while we’ve professionalized everything else in short-term rentals—from keyless entry to high-end linens—the TV experience is stuck in 2015. We give guests a cluttered “Smart TV” home screen full of the previous guest’s data, confusing inputs, and a UI that wasn’t designed for a revolving door of travelers.

I wanted to create something that felt like a high-end hotel interface but stayed affordable for the DIY host. That’s why I built StayHost TV. It’s an Android TV app that:

  • Cleans up the clutter: No more “whose account is this?” confusion.
  • Brands the stay: A professional welcome screen that makes the guest feel like they’ve arrived somewhere special.
  • Saves the Host’s time: A 5-minute setup that eliminates those late-night troubleshooting messages.

Today, I’m officially launching our Founding Host Beta. I’m looking for the first 25 properties to join me in shaping this tool.

I don’t just want customers; I want partners. As a Founding Host, you’ll get:

  • Permanent “Founding” status and locked-in pricing ($7/month).
  • Direct access to me to tell me what features we should build next.
  • A cleaner, more professional guest experience before the “big guys” get it.

If you’re tired of the TV being the weakest link in your guest experience, I’d love to have you. You can check out the interactive demo and apply for the beta at StayHostHub.com.

I was originally born in Missouri, but traveled around most of my childhood. My mom finally got tired of moving while we were in Dallas, Texas and I have been here ever since. After high school I started college at the University of North Texas (UNT) and started working in the computer field. I currently work for JCPenney as a front end software engineer for their e-commerce website. Before this I worked for AT&T about 12 years and started with them in 1999 (when they were Southwestern Bell). I have many passions and I really love photography. Besides photography I also love sports. I not only like to watch it, but I also love to play. Currently my friends and I play indoor soccer and flag football.
